Andy Ellis from Fixedgearlondon sent over some killer photos of the new 14 Bike Co. frame. Here is what he said about it... This is the Fixedgearlondon X 14 Bike Co trick frame, Designed and built by SuperTed in London.
The team riders for 14 will be riding these bikes... Romain was the first to get his today.
Oscar, Mike and Gus will be getting theirs imminently.
As soon as the riders have tested and approved the frames, we will be producing them for the public. These frames will be available exclusively through shop 14.
The fork pictured is not designed or made by SuperTed. This is still on the drawing board but will be sold with the frame on release. Dropouts, headtube and BB shell will all be CNC machined on the final version. The FGLDN logo will be embossed on the back end cap too...
This looks interesting, and not only because I make an unexpected cameo in it, ha ha...
It just blows me away every day to see how much this stuff has spread around the world. Different influences from different countries have all filtered across the globe and meshed into one big fixed gear movement. Or something like that. I know a lot of people don't like that it's gotten so much bigger, and I can understand that sentiment to a certain degree, but for me personally I think it's fantastic. It seems like such a positive way to bring people from different countries and cultures together...
The Milwaukee Bikes crew have been testing out a new prototype tire from Fyxation for the past couple of months, and it has just been announced that they are officially going into production. I personally am over the moon about this. I have tried so many different kinds of tires over the years, and this is the first set I've had that I am completely satisfied with in all aspects of my riding...
The tread is very grippy, but it also has a very low profile so you can still break it loose when necessary. And most importantly, it doesn't wear down. I've been riding these tires every day and the tread is still almost like new. Nails.

WAD = We Are Different. If you have an ass-cake then I guess that's probably true. In reality, however, the mag is pretty much the same as every other "urban/culture/fashion/hype" magazine out there, which means that the contents don't start until page 76 and there is only one article that's worth reading.
Actually, this particular issue had two interesting pieces, which is why I'm taking the time to post about it. So there you go.
This has been posted everywhere else already, and that's because it deserves to be. The Freeman Transport Gravel Racer. Everything those guys do is so amazingly well thought out... beautiful.
Bianchi seems to be hooking up with everyone these days. This time it's with Acne, the world's most interestingly named fashion brand. Here are the goods...
Spotted at another recent Bianchi collaborator's site.
The Milwaukee Bruiser aftermarket fork drops at the end of June. Beef up your favorite frame without killing your wallet. This thing won't break, and even if it does, you'll get another one for free because it comes with a lifetime warranty...!
Jeff from All-City has posted a very interesting and detailed write-up about their new Big Block frame that will be dropping soon. It's always fascinating to get the full scoop on what was going through someone's mind when they're working out the details of a frame design. Great stuff... read it here.
It's here... Fixed Mag #3. Killer article in there about Tom and Tony's Eurotrip, and lots of other great stuff as well. And of course you can read it all for free right here.
Finally got my hands on a copy of the Fumikiri DVD. I've talked before about how much I love the main edit that was shown at the Bicycle Film Festival in Tokyo... the riding is great, the filming and editing is super smooth, and the all instrumental music flows perfectly with everything and cuts a serious groove. And now the full DVD comes with a TON of extras which are killer (and I'm not just saying that because I'm in one of them, ha ha).
You can nab one of these at janmarket.net I believe, though I'm honestly not sure about the shipping situation. I will try to find out more about that in the near future and pass along any info I learn...
This cat is super smooth. We have a few clips of him in BSv.3 from Mosher's trip to Hawaii, but I wish we would have been able to get more from him. That's one thing about pushing to get these vids out quickly so that the footage doesn't get stale... sometimes you lose the chance to fit in a new rider that you find out about late in the game. Next time though...!
Last night when I was out on my ride I was reminded of this video that Jake Ricker and the Seattle crew put out several months ago...
I love this video. And not just because the riding is fantastic and the feel of the edit is really incredible. The thing I like the most about this vid is the fact that the entire first half is just footage of Zach cruising around the city on his bike.
The best thing about riding fixed is the riding. Just going out and ripping around the city. Maybe stop somewhere and mess around with a few tricks, and then cruise around some more. Bootleg Sessions is all about the messing around of course, but the riding is always underneath everything. It's implied.
I think that's what people who don't ride fixed (and some who do) don't really understand... the tricks are just fun. That's it. They're not the core of everything, they're not the sole purpose of being on the bike. And you know what? That's what makes them fun.
When I was riding flatland quite a bit, I would put my bike in my car, drive to a spot, and stay there. If I was having a bad day and couldn't pull anything, or if I didn't learn anything new, it felt like I had just wasted my time. I don't get that feeling on my FG. I'm just on it to ride my bike, and if I want to stop and goof off for awhile I can.
Please note that I'm not writing this to start any controversy. I know it's hard to interpret the sentiment behind things that are written on the internutz sometimes. I'm writing this from a sense of pure positivity. I had a great ride last night, I'm feeling really good, and this is what came out of it. That's all.
After making the list of riders for Bootleg Sessions v.3 that I posted yesterday, I got curious about how many riders have appeard in the Bootleg Sessions "trilogy" (ha ha). So, I went back and watched the old vids, and here is the full roster...

In total, fifty-four different riders have had a part in at least one Bootleg Sessions DVD. That's pretty crazy now that I think about it...

Plus there are a couple more that make brief cameos that I believe we forgot to reference by name (sorry guys!). Not too shabby.
OK, I'm very late on this because it's been out for awhile now, but I just got issue #5 of Cog Magazine. You know how much I love the hard copy, and the Cog crew puts out really killer stuff. Great articles that hit at every aspect of fixed riding, amazing photography, fold out pages, and lots of coverage from Japan. Loved the article about the JAN crew in this issue...
This is pretty nuts... Brendt Barbur from the Bicycle Film Festival has hooked up with 42 Below to organize a ride from the BFF in NYC to the BFF in LA. And get this... you can get paid to make this trip! Which means you'll be making more money than the guys riding for Astana are making right now...
Got a package from Very Masa containing one of their Jordan 5-panels and a huge pile of stickers...!
The subtle detailing on this cap is amazing. Unfortunately they are already all sold out, but I've seen a sneak preview of what's coming next, and I can tell you that whoever wins the Very Masa package as part of our BSv.3 pre-order giveaway is going to be super stoked!
I've always worn full-sized headphones when riding... fixed, flat, whatever (not while commuting though of course). They're more comfortable and they stay on my nog better than the little plug things. Awhile ago I nabbed a pair of WESCs and they have proven to be the best headphones I've ever had by far. Super comfortable, perfectly functional (I love the short cable with the extention), and aesthetically on the money.
** Shipping and handling will be added to all orders. Charges for a single DVD are $5 in the U.S. and Canada, $10 everywhere else. Multiple orders will cost slightly more.
