I think I'm going to try these

JOL/Gurney straps. They look very easy to install/uninstall without any tools or hardware so I could easily ride to a spot, pop them off, mess around for awhile, then stick them back on and go home with minimal hassles.

There is a week or two wait on them right now, so I'll repost with my impressions once I have them in hand...

Interview with Drew Triplett from Milwaukee Bikes

This interview came out in early June, but I just now found out about it, so I thought I'd go ahead and drop the link because it's an interesting read. Drew is the man who does the design work for Milwaukee, among many other things, and he provides some good insight into the development of the MKE Bruiser...

Milwaukee caps!

I rarely go anywhere without some kind of a hat on, so this is great news for me... Milwaukee has just dropped two different styles of baseball caps--a short-billed and an umpire style--and a set with a full-sized visor will be coming soon. 'Bout time guys!

More info here, and order here.

Tuesday, July 21, 2009

OK, I am a dumbass.

Here's the skinny... a couple of days ago I posted a pic of the new frame by Cardinal Bicycles. Apparently it had a Volume Bikes fork on it that Shawn Wolf had restickered just to see what they would look like on the actual Cardinal forks that haven't come in yet, and he sent me a pic just so I could have a look at it. He never meant for anyone else to see it but me.

Furthermore, those aren't even the decals that will be going on the production bikes, Shawn just made those up for the NACCC event coming up in August because he wanted them to stand out a bit more. I guess the real ones are completely different.

So, long story short, I shouldn't have posted that photo. Shawn didn't intend for me to post it and I didn't ask him or Joe, the main man behind Joe's Cycles and Cardinal Bicycles, if I could/should. I just went ahead and did it because I was stoked for them and thought I was helping them out, and also because I am a pretty serious dumbass at times. As they say, the road to hell is paved with good intentions...

Big apologies to Shawn and Joe, and also to the guys at Volume Bikes. I'll fully take the blame for this one, and from now on I'll keep my fucking nose out of industry type stuff where it doesn't belong.

Chill in Chicago

This is kind of what it's all about right here... nothing flashy, just a guy out relaxing and doing his thing on his bike. Good to see something going down in Chi-town.

This is pretty sweet

This is one of those ideas that wish I had thought of first...

Anima D'Acciaio Trailer

Saw the full length of this at BFF NYC. It's very interesting and well done. Make sure you get out to see it if it comes to your city...

Best lyrics ever?

You got you got you got you got you got...
You got the boomin' system but it's slicing out doo-doo
You think it's chocolate milk but it's watered down yoo-hoo
I've been through many times in which I thought I might lose it
The only thing that saved me has always been music
We've got our own studio that's under the G
It's no question life's been good to me
'Cause life ain't nothing but a good groove
A good mix tape to put you in the right mood
This one goes out to my man the Groove Merchant
Coming through with beats for which I've been searching
Like two sealed copies of expansions
I'm like Tom Vu with yachts and mansions
The logo I sport is the face of the monkey
Union made Ben Davis quality it's no junk see
My chrome is shining just like an icicle
I ride around town on my low-rider bicycle... (echo)

Sorry, I'm still stuck on old skool Beasties for some reason...

Peel Sessions article in the NY Times

Check out this article about the weekly Peel Sessions that go down under the BQE in Brooklyn every Thursday night...

There is also an audio slideshow that contains an interview with our man John Prolly Watson. Nice!

Livestrong Nike Zoom Soldier III PEs

This pair of Nike Zoom Soldier IIIs was designed with Lance Armstrong's Livestrong theme in mind in order to raise cancer awareness. They were worn in game action recently... no, not by LeBron James (the Soldiers are part of his signature line with Nike) but by Sue Bird of the WNBA's Seattle Storm.

Those things are really, really yellow. Wow. But hey, as the son of a cancer survivor, I would have to say that anything that helps bring even a small amount of recognition to the Livestrong cause is a good thing.

Seattle Summer

A short edit from Zlog...

Love Seattle in July... beautiful city.

Fixed Gear Apocalypse

Is this what the Bike Snob has been referring to all this time?

Note the "Random" button that you can click to have it arbitrarily build you something ridiculous...

Session 700 tires are on the way!

You can pre-order Fyxation's new Session 700 tires now from Ben's Cycles. Trust me, you want these. Durable as hell. More info on the Milwaukee Bikes Blog.

Love this kid's riding. I first saw him in the Fixion vid, and then of course he makes a killer appearance in the Osaka section in Bootleg Sessions v.3. Great style, speed, and smoothness...

Screenings @ Brakeless in Montreal

Our man Sylvester @ Brakeless in Montreal is throwing an event on July 8th where a couple vids will be shown, including Bootleg Sessions v.3 and the Council of Doom movie. This flyer was made by the Doom guys... can you tell? Ha ha...

Monday, July 6, 2009

I've been traveling a lot during the past week so I'm a bit behind on everything. I'm sure everyone has seen this already but it's still worth posting... our old friend Keo Curry doing his thing in L.A.

I still like to go back and watch his part from Bootleg Sessions v.1... his last line boggles the mind to this day...

Another Lance Armstrong "art bike"

This one, designed by Marc Newson, is a bit more subdued than previous efforts...

Of course it was done to represent a good cause, cancer awareness, during the TdF. More here.

Le Tour @ Monaco

The Tour de France started today with the prologue in Monaco. Amazing to see guys pedaling through one of the most beautiful cities in the world, though I have to say it was a little bit anticlimactic since I'm used to seeing F1 cars blasting around those same streets.

Congrats to David Zabriskie for finishing 13th today, for being one of the only guys in the peloton to have a personality (check his twitter, pretty funny), and for having a very attractive wife.
