Back to the Comptowns

I've been riding in Adidas Comptowns again recently. As much as I love the Superskate slip-ons, my feet have been killing me with the vulcanized soles, so I had to get a little more protection.

Comptowns are solid as hell, and super comfy too.

I am unapologetic...

...about my obsession with Adidas Superskate slip-ons. I finally found a shoe that I love that someone actually produces in my size (aka huge), and dammit, I'm gonna grab every pair I possibly can before they stop making them. I've said it before and I'll say it again... these are the PERFECT riding shoes.

Mmmm... suede.

Chi-town

The wife and I went to Chicago this weekend to visit some friends. Beautiful city when the weather is decent. We stopped by the Adidas store while we were there...

...and of course I got a new set...

We also happened to witness the "Tour of Oakbrook" which was randomly taking place right outside the hotel where we were staying...

Sorry to say, this lame photo is about as exciting as the "tour" got. The rest of the trip was great, however. Chicago is only 3 hours away, I need to get up there more often.

Vision Street Wear suede high tops

Vision Street Wear, or rather the lame-ass corporate conglomerate that purchased the rights to the name "Vision Street Wear" after the real company went kaput, have brought back the old suede high tops...

I loved these shoes as a kid. I still love the style in fact, the classic logo in white on the heel of the all black shoe just looks so damn good. If they made these in a size 14 (they don't), I might grab a pair just for old time's sake. The originals could take some serious abuse...

Dunks Designer

I'm pretty much an Adidas guy and have been for years, mainly because they fit me better than anything else, but I definitely have respect for the way Nike does stuff. They have a Kicks Creator on their Dunks site now that has been chewing up quite a bit of my spare time at work for the past few days. You can basically design your own Nike Dunks down to some pretty minute details...

Fun stuff. And when you're done with your design, you can send it into battle against other designs that people have done, and they get voted on by others on the site. I have learned pretty quickly that I'm never going to be a shoe designer, ha ha...

No thanks

What is up with some of the Mark Gonzales designed Adidas stuff that has been coming out recently? This is their newest collab...

And here's an older example...

They call this stuff "minimalism." I call it "not even trying."

Gotta start 'em early

My kid got his first tiny pair of Vans yesterday...

I dig the crossword colorway. Hopefully I'll be able to find another pair that has the clues to this puzzle so I can write in the answers.

More Superskates

Another pair to throw on the pile...

Ebay has been coming through for me big time lately...

A place to put your U-lock key...

...in case you're out riding one night and realize you've forgotten both your bag and your pants.

Of course, if you didn't have your bag or any pants on, then where would you be keeping your U-Lock? I guess some questions are better not asked...

Collabs are getting crazy

Adidas is really going all out in support of their Michael Sieben collaboration. Check out this site...

Make sure you watch the video. It's... weird.

Superskates on the super cheap

Adidas Superskate lows, got 'em for $10 on eBay with free shipping. New in the box, no flaws. If you're a shop that's selling footwear on the 'Bay, it's probably a good idea to set a minimum bid value, especially on sizes that not many people will be bidding on (these are 14s)...

Not that I'm complaining or anything...!

I may have a problem.

Got another new pair of Adidas Superskate slip-ons today. That makes 5 now. What the hell is wrong with me...?

My dad always said that when you find something you love, you should stick with it. I think he was probably referring to a job or a woman or something as opposed to a particular brand and style of shoe, but hey, at least this proves that I was listening to him...

Sneaks Peek

I was in Marshall's the other day and discovered that they had gotten in a pile of my favorite shoes... the Adidas Super Skate slip-ons. Not only that, they had several of them in size 14, which is extremely difficult to find, and they were selling them for $15 a pair!

I went a little bit crazy and stocked the f*** up.

Yeah that's right, I even got the green ones. These are the perfect riding shoes for me because...

1) The soles are thin enough that I can feel the pedals/cranks/tires, but not so thin that my feet start hurting after 10 minutes, and they are soft enough that I can twist on the pedals without them sticking.

2) They have much better padding around the opening than other slip-ons which saves my ankles a bit.

3) They fit more like real shoes than other slip-ons.

4) Most importantly, no shoestrings to get caught in my bars/stem/pedals/cranks/chainring/every other part of my bike you can possibly imagine. Many of my worst falls have come from my shoestrings getting hung up.

If you have a Marshall's by your house, you should check these things out. Fifteen bills for a good riding shoe that you don't mind tearing up is nothing to sneeze at.
