After four amazing volumes, we have accomplished everything we could have ever hoped to accomplish. Massive, everlasting thanks to everyone who contributed, participated, and/or supported us over the past four years!

Wilis Johnson - Bootleg Sessions v.1
The first time I remember seeing Wilis was in a Cadence ad in Cranked Magazine way back in 2006. Wilis is one of the OGest of the OGs. I think he's lived in every city on the planet at some point in his life. He makes some killer paintings using bike parts as well... I have one hanging on the wall in my front room.

Tony Fast - Bootleg Sessions v.1
The always entertaining Tony Fast's part from Bootleg Sessions v.1. In many ways Tony epitomizes the Bootleg Sessions project in my mind... his only motivation in riding is to have a good time with his friends, and because of that his parts are always some of the most fun to watch.
The intro to this part is still one of the most amazing things that was captured in any of the Bootleg vids. In Philly, if you mess with someone, they're going to take you down. Once the guy realizes what's happening, he doesn't shout a bunch of empty threats at anyone (a la the SF construction worker in MASH). He immediately sizes up the situation (one against six? not a problem!), coils himself up like a drunken rattlesnake, and then strikes. And of course it's Tony that he targets because Tony is like a magnet for craziness...

Bootleg Sessions v.1 - Tom LaMarche
As part of the run up to the release of the final volume in the Bootleg Sessions series, we're going to be posting the entirety of Bootleg Sessions v.1 on YouTube so that those who have seen it already can reminisce a bit and those who haven't can get an idea of how this whole thing got started.
We'll kick this off with Tom LaMarche's opening edit of course. Even though things have progressed pretty dramatically since 2007 when BSv.1 was released, I think a lot of what Tom does in this part would still stand up today. That's how far ahead of the game he was (and still is)...
Part 2, Keo Curry's section, will be posted in a couple of days, so make sure you check back!

Prizzy Prizzy Please - 20/20 Vision
Chicago's Prizzy Prizzy Please, the band that contributed the song that appears in Marco's opening part in BSv.4, had a record release show in Indy last Friday night. The show was unfortunately moved to a 21+ venue last minute because the original spot caved or something, but it was still jumping. Just found this vid of the first song they played...
These guys are unbelievable live... if they're in your town over the next two months (and it's almost guaranteed they will be), make sure you check them out.

A new quick edit from Teppei (aka Nasty) by Kant. So much fun to watch this guy ride. He has a brief section in Bootleg Sessions v.4 and it's one of my favorite parts.

Grime Time
Joey Krillz (aka the Smashenger) at Grime St. sent me one of their new tees. Sick. I especially like the subtle black on black Oscar graphic on the back...
Thanks Joey! You guys remember Mr. Krillz, right? That's him at 1:58. Still love that clip.

Tanner Monmaney
Another edit from Tanner Monmaney and the Aloha Fixed Crew. Tanner of course has a part in BSv.4 and it is absolutely 100% over the top. In fact, we put together a very special intro segment for Tanner's edit that is without a doubt the craziest thing we've ever done in any of the Bootleg Sessions vids. I can't even begin to explain what it is, trust me when I say you'll just have to see it for yourself.

Bootleg Sessions v.4 full trailer and pre-order!
The full trailer for Bootleg Sessions v.4 is now live, and you can pre-order your copy today right here!
The DVD is completely done and will be sent on it's way to be replicated as of tomorrow. Shipping should start in mid-May.
I have to say that this is, in my opinion, the best of the Bootleg vids. Not just because the riding has progressed so much or because it was filmed entirely in HD, but also because there is so much personality and humor mixed in to all of the edits. This thing is dripping with fun. Huge, huge thanks to everyone who was involved in putting this together!

Tom LaMarche in OOPM
Solid interview in Out of Print Magazine with our man Tom LaMarche. Best answer of the bunch has to be...
OOPM: What should be the punishment for a bike thief?
Tom: They should have to live in South Jersey.
Gotta love Tom, he gets right to the point. Tons of killer photos included with the article too. For example...

Sam Miller - Grand Canyon
Sam Miller is, as everyone knows, a killer bike rider. What you may not know is that he's also a killer singer and guitar player and fronts the band Grand Canyon. Or maybe you do know that since we used one of Grand Canyon's songs ("BUI") for Sam's epic opening part in Bootleg Sessions v.2.
Anyway, Grand Canyon has a new website chock full of lots of free songs, including "BUI" and a song called "From the West Side" which I'm pretty sure is about Sam crashing his bike while riding home in the middle of the night and smashing his face, his frame, and pretty much everything else. Great stuff, make sure you check it out.

Chrome is screwed... er... very generous
Apparently the boys at Chrome bags received over 5,000 pairs of shoes in their two day "Turds for Gold" promotion last month. Wow. And it appears that they'll be making good on their promise to send out a new set of Chrome kicks to everyone who participated, at least according to their blog.
Make sure you read that blog entry. Sounds like they're going to do some great things with the shoes that were donated, not just toss them in the garbage. I gotta say that I have a ton of respect for those guys if they manage to follow through on this. They must have been freaking out to see so many boxes coming in the door. If I get that free pair, I'm going to buy another set to help them out.

BSv.4 update
We were hoping to have everything ready to go by April 1st so that we could release the full trailer and open up for pre-orders, but unfortunately that's not going to happen. We keep finding little things that we want to tweak... since this is the last Bootleg Sessions video, I guess we're getting a little anal about things. It's very close though, so be looking for the trailer to drop sometime next week...!

New Bike Day - Cinelli Mash
Apparently my new build has been plastered all over the internet and I haven't had a chance to post anything because, well, I've been out riding it. When it comes down to it, I just wanted to get a new bike. So I decided to swap out my '04 Fuji Track Pro for the Cinelli Mash.
Deep down I am a MASH fanboy. Those dudes really set the stage for fixed gear bikes to be documented. I suppose there is a chance this blog wouldn't exist if it wasn't for the MASH guys did. Also, Gabe and Mike's extra parts still stand out as two of my favorite fixed gears videos on the internetsssss.
In my estimation, at the NYC MASH premiere the first true trick comp was held. I'm not referring to little side events at your local alleycat. At this comp there were close to 200 or 300 people. It was the best fucking vibe. I met so many amazing people that day. Hell I even met John Prolly when he was nothing more than a blogspot.
It would be hard to disagree that a lot is owed to what MASH has done. They even designed a reasonably priced Cinelli frame, a brand I have lusted after owning since I started riding.
Fuzzy from Bike Rev did the build for with some parts his personal parts bin (FSA 50t chainring, EC90 Seatpost). Threw on one of those swanky Shop 14 Concor saddles. The wheels are some Profiles that I had tried to doing tricks on years ago then fortunately wider rims became all the rage so these wheels got swapped to the Fuji.

Props Video Magazine
I have a feeling that a lot of the fixed gear riders out there, even moreso the trick kids, grew up on BMX. Well I certainly have a soft spot for nostalgia and recently I have been able to take some trips down memory lane. Props Visual has launched their website www.PropsBMX.tv where they are posting videos from recent and past issues of their video magazine.
I'm sure many of you have come across the banger filled Garrett Reynold's Props bio. This was hosted on the new website. What I am far more interested in is the older videos. I spent most of the morning watching Road Fools 5. This brought me to thinking that not only have bikes been great to me, but they were my foray into awesome music. Every new props video introduced to one if not multiple awesome bands.
Road Fools 5 has some awesome Jade Tree bands on it and looks like today I am going to have dig up "The First Five Years" Jade Tree comp.

I'd like to see this when it comes out...
Based on the manga of the same name which is very good. Hopefully they never make an American version of this because it will star Hillary Duff and it will suck to the deepest depths of the hottest hell.

Charge Bikes: Fixed 4 with Tom LaMarche
It's Tom, so you know it's going to be amazing. The kid has so much style it's ridiculous. I could watch him ride all day long. In fact, sometimes that's exactly what I do when we're editing his footage, and it never gets old...!

So as you can see, we're definitely getting close. We're very stoked on how this one is turning out... crazy riding, filmed in full HD, lots of fun/funny personalities (both old and new) involved... it's going to be the best one we've done I think. Hopefully we can have everything ready to go in the next couple of weeks... stay tuned!

If at first you don't succeed...
...get obsessive complusive about it. Got a new clip today and it took awhile, as evidenced in this photo by the mass of tire marks left on the pavement from spinning in the same spot over and over and over...
When you finally pull a trick and get it filmed exactly the way you want it though, I don't think there's anything more satisifying in this world.

MKE grips and bar ends
Set up some new bars today with the recently released MKE grips and a pair of MKE beer stein bar ends that I had stashed away. Solid.

The Sorely Trying Days
One of my favorite bits from BSv.3 is the intro to the Philly section that features a band called The Sorely Trying Days playing their seminal anthem "Everybody's Bitch." I filmed that clip from behind the stage, and I recently happened across this vid that someone else shot from the crowd. You can see me off to the right sporting a lime green stocking cap. Fun show.

Numbers hits the track
I am a massive fan of the band Numbers, so I can't even tell you how stoked I was when they graciously agreed to let us use one of their songs for the Bootleg Sessions v.2 trailer. As it turns out, Dave, the guitarist for Numbers, is living in Tokyo right now and has gotten big into track racing. He recently sent me some photos of his unbelievably gorgeous Panasonic...
